How to report overflowing bins and dumped waste
An overflowing bin and a pile of dumped waste may need different attention, but both benefit from a clear record of the place and visible condition. A Waste pin brings that observation into a shared community map.
Keep the report about the condition
Use Waste for overflowing public bins, accumulated litter or dumped rubbish in a shared place. Photograph the condition you can observe rather than accusing someone of causing it. Do not include names, addresses from discarded documents or identifying details from packaging.
Make the location recognisable
A photo that shows the bin or waste together with a nearby public landmark can help others recognise the site. Take it from a safe position without opening bags, moving rubbish or approaching unknown material. Keep people and private interiors out of the frame where possible.
Add your observation to an existing pin
Repeated photos of the same pile can fragment the record. Check nearby reports and use the existing pin when it shows the same unresolved problem. A fresh pile at a different location should have its own report.
Record cleanup and recurrence
When the site is cleared, the resolution action lets someone nearby submit current photo evidence. If the problem returns after closure, use the returned-issue option where available. The request is reviewed before reopening, preserving the earlier cleanup history.

The pin appears after successful publication. New photos stay private until approved by an administrator. Photo approval does not verify the cause of the issue or promise a repair.
Will posting a Waste pin schedule collection?
No. PublicPin is a community reporting platform, not a waste collection service. Contact the responsible local service through its official channel if you need collection or a formal complaint. A pin can provide a shareable record and help neighbours track what changed.
