How to report water leaks and waterlogging
Water on a road or pavement can come from several sources. A useful report records the visible condition and location without guessing which pipe, drain or organisation caused it.
Describe what the photo can establish
Use Water for a visible leak, standing water or waterlogging in a shared area. Choose the category that best describes the issue you are reporting. A photo can show where water has collected, but it cannot by itself establish its source, depth or quality.
Document the site from a safe position
Show the affected route or public space from a safe, accessible viewpoint. Do not enter water, open covers or approach exposed electrical equipment to improve a photo. If taking a photo would put you at risk, leave the report for a safer opportunity.
Check the timing and nearby reports
Water conditions can change quickly. Look at an existing pin’s status and latest confirmation before adding another report for the same place. A fresh nearby confirmation helps others distinguish a current issue from an older observation.
Separate an apparent improvement from a verified fix
If the water has cleared, someone at the location can submit resolution evidence. Do not assume that a dry surface proves an underlying leak has been repaired. PublicPin shows community updates and administrative verification separately so readers can judge the record.
